The Early Home Remodeling and Concrete Construction Years

I started in 1985 remodeling a 2 story home in DeLand that was built in 1933. I also began doing concrete work that same year. I then built a couple of spec homes in DeLand and held them for rentals for a few years before selling. My father was a dentist and I did many dental office build-outs for him and that led to numerous build-outs for other dentists that were sent to me by my dad and his dental equipment supply contacts. We’ve done some other medical office build-outs as well.

Concrete Sub-Contracting

I have always done concrete sub-contracting for other residential builders and medium sized commercial construction companies. Some of the larger concrete projects I completed were for Walgreens, Eckerds, Office Max, 7-11 and Publix stores and involved the building slabs/tie beams and out building slabs as well as site concrete. We recently did a Burger King slab and block/tie beams in Deltona. I’ve done hundreds of homeowner concrete jobs and additions. I took leads from Home Advisor for a few years and still have a 4.9 out of 5 rating with Angie which took over Home Advisor.

Spec Home Expansion

We built many spec homes before the 2008 recession and began again in 2016 when sales picked up again. This has become the main focus of our business now. We just finished a spec home for my real estate agent. We built my model home on her lot in Deltona and then she put it up for sale. We have 3 of our own specs under construction at this time as well as 5 for investors. We also have 2 flood remodels underway in Stone Island Deltona that are wrapping up. Our goal is to build 3 to 4 spec homes per year, buying the land then completing the construction from start to finish.

Other Worked Performed in Recent Years

Over the past few years I have also helped people get permits for their homes and helped them through the process to varying degrees. I helped pull a permit for a 50’ x 100’ barndominium in Osteen. I did the slab work and the property owner finished the rest. I pulled a permit for a house in Deltona. We completed the slab, block and framing to the point of finished roof and the owner finished the rest. Finally I took over a permit for a gentleman in Orange City for his house after he lost confidence in his builder. I applied to change contractor and helped him finish the house. That Orange City project lead me to discussions with the property owners friend in DeLand about reconstruction of a house that had burned.
